Application:

 

BDMA catalyst is a standard catalyst for flexible slabstock and rigid polyurethane foam especiallyused for refrigerator insulation. Because of the very mild catalytic activity flowability and adhesionproperties are improved. In addition fine, closed cell structures can be obtained. FurthermoreBDMA is used as a co-catalyst for other polyurethane applications and as an accelerator in Epoxysystems.

Potential Health Effects

Inhalation : Toxic by inhalation. Harmful if inhaled and may cause delayed lung injury.Delayed adverse effects possible. Inhalation of aerosol may cause irritation to theupper respiratory tract. Risk of serious damage to the lungs (by inhalation).May cause nose, throat, and lung irritation. Can cause severe eye, skin andrespiratory tract burns. Inhalation of vapors and/or aerosols in high concentrationmay cause irritation of respiratory system.

Eye contact : Product vapor in low concentrations can cause lacrimation, conjunctivitis andcorneal edema when absorbed into the tissue of the eye from the atmosphere.Corneal edema can cause the perception of "blue haze" or "fog" around lights,although this is a temporary effect and has no known residual effect. Causes eyeburns. May cause blindness. Severe eye irritation.

Skin contact : Harmful in contact with skin. Causes skin burns. Symptoms of overexposuremay be headache, dizziness, tiredness, nausea and vomiting.

Ingestion : May be fatal if swallowed. Toxic if swallowed. If ingested, severe burns of themouth and throat, as well as a danger of perforation of the oesophagus and thestomach.

Chronic Health Hazard : This product contains no listed carcinogens according to IARC,ACGIH, NTP and/or OSHA in concentrations of 0.1 percent or greater. Prolongedcontact may result in chemical burns and permanent damage. Subchronic exposureof this material or component in test animals has caused abnormalities in thefollowing organ(s): Kidney. Liver. Respiratory system.
